- Embedded RF System Development: Led the development of a passive/active embedded RF system using C++, libtins, libpcap, and Python. System identified network connections of interest with byte-level customizable search criteria, provided options for analyzing data for cyber vulnerabilities, and interacted with systems using tailored responses
- Advanced Authentication Integration: Engineered a unique combination of technology stacks to meet stringent customer security requirements using existing corporate systems. Delivered SAML 2.0 SSO login systems with PKI, Keycloak, Node.js, and front-end JavaScript. Improved persistence with Java Web Tokens and session cookies and secured legacy username/password systems with salted hashes. Exceeded expectations, successfully implemented new system for emerging government open-system requirements, and enabled customer entry into a new multi-million-dollar market.
- Communications Automation System Porting: Utilized Python and Bash to migrate an XML-based communications automation system from intranet to internet. Resolved issues in Tox, Pytest, Pylint, and core routines. Implemented a GitLab CI pipeline to automate integrated builds, linting, testing, and documentation checks. Enhanced security by replacing insecure libraries, adopted AsyncIO for asynchronous tasks, improved Python library components for seamless C/C++ integration, increased test coverage to over 95%. Work resulted in a fully operational application within a larger system of systems.
- Cybersecurity Assessments: Assessed cyber security of national systems including satellites, ground-stations, aircraft fleets, nuclear command and control networks, and other DoD systems to identify exploitable vulnerabilities in U.S. critical infrastructure. Provided tailored remediation plans and delivered important findings to decision makers, including a report to Congress that contributed to the decision to require new government security standards and requirements for Defense Industrial Base systems.
- DevSecOps Modernization: Built security pipelines to automatically scan software prior to entering production. Created 22 scanners to automatically detect vulnerabilities in 29 programming languages, 14 software library frameworks, git secrets, and docker images. Built search and scan pipeline for finding target mime-types in test systems and running tailored commands for each. Led to new policies to purge old docker images and established framework for using and customizing security scanners.
- Aerospace RF Deconfliction System Revamp: Revamped a malfunctioning aerospace RF deconfliction system using extreme programming, DevSecOps, and lean product approaches. Deployed working code weekly with React, JavaScript/TypeScript, Cypress, Selenium, Sikulix, Spring Boot (Java, Kotlin), and MySQL. Fielded an operationally-accepted system in just 152 days from kick-off after utilizing only $2 million of a $320 million budget.
